Flyfishing for Largescale and Smallscale Yellowfish is of course the main attraction in the winter months. (Late March till Mid September) This is when the water is at its lowest and clearest which makes the fishing viable. Summer months the river is muddy and fast flowing and fishing is extremely frustrating and difficult. Tubing through the rapids is popular with most guests in the summer month. Outdoor Heartbeat near Piet Retief in Mpumalanga (on route to Kwazulu Natal coast) offers a wide variety of adventure for people regardless of age.

We are situated on the border between South Africa and Swaziland only a few minutes drive from the Mahamba Border Post. Fishing, Flyfishing , Hiking, Tubing, Birding , Bushmen Paintings  Fossil hunting and Mountain Biking are some of the activities that we offer. This is surely a wonderfull experience for the nature lover and adventurist.

Outdoor Heartbeat is a flyfishing paradise where several species of yellow fish can be taken on a "catch and release" basis. Other species include Bass, Carp, Eel and Barbel.

With the meandering Assegai river we can really say " a River runs through it  ". Newly discovered Bushmen paintings and visiting traditional villages are also on our list of exciting tourist attractions.
